As you might remember, I hung out with a big group of kids as part of a celebration of children's day. Despite being poor, their families invited me and greeted me with festive boards with all the local specialities I could imagine.
After spending a couple of weeks I decided I had enough of great hospitality and comfort and it was time to get back into the wilderness. I left Kanakpur by bus and travelled to Chilime, a small village in the north of the country. The countryside here is very austere. You can't just sleep in the nature not even in the summer. Low temperature is only one of the problems but you can also become prey to wild bears...although this can happen to you in Hungary these days. I stayed at Hotel Sanjen to be safe. Next day I set off further north into the mountains on foot. The view was simply magnificent. There are hardly any settlements, you can only meet shepherds with their livestock and the endless mountain ranges. I just kept on going to see as much as I could. You might find it hard to believe but at a point I realized I was not in Nepal anymore but in Tibet.
As I was finding my way into a strait valley I met some very strange people. They claimed to be the members of the Silver Enlightenment Brotherhood which they said was an alternative Buddhist group. They all wore green capes with silver stripes. I stayed with them for the night and we talked a lot because they wanted to know all about me. I tasted their "tea" which is called tsampa and contains fat and roasted flour. It has a terrible taste not even similar to tea but also stodgy so I wasn't hungry anymore. I also learned that the reason why they live so isolated is that they want to find a way to liberate their country from Chinese occupation. They found me so likeable they carried out the initiation ceremony and I had to drink something they called the "Holy Tears of Friendship". In the end they took me to the edge of a Chinese military camp. By this time I was feeling furious strength and energy running through my body but that is the last thing I remember. When I woke up in the morning I saw the completely obliterated Chinese camp with dead soldiers and ruined equipment all around. Instead of hands I had paws and I was still feeling the effect of the initiation drink. What have I done? Who have I become..or what?
